It’s fair to say, if you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ve heard of the infamous Pokémon media franchise. This 90’s favorite card game, video game and television fad has massively resurfaced its fame with the launch of the Pokémon GO phone app, which allows gamers to find Pokémons in the real world using their cell phone cameras. In less than a month, the new crazed addiction to “catch’em all” has become the biggest mobile game in U.S. history.
Everyone’s playing, from the biggest celebrities to the average Joe’s in your neighborhood. Also jumping on the bandwagon, large events, churches and local businesses have gotten involved. In fact, businesses are benefiting greatly from simply joining in a little fun.
Pokémon GO may just be your answer to increasing customer attraction.
With players wandering in and out of locations looking for Pokémon or Pokéstops, businesses have been gaining new customers. To help with the increase, the creators have added a new feature called Lure Modules. When you purchase a Lure Module, with 100 coins or $0.99, it brings Pokémon to your business for 30 minutes. Now, this may not seem like a long time, however they have made a tremendous difference for businesses according to comments in Reddit threads, such as the following:
“We did this last night (college town), and within minutes of dropping the Lure, 30 people walked in!”
“I own a pizzeria that’s a Pokéstop, and I literally did this all day. I had a ton of kids and adults (mostly adults) come in for a slice of pizza and a drink until the Lure ran out.”
At no surprise, the Pokémon GO app has passed up the gaming sensation Candy Crush Saga and one of the bigger social media websites Twitter. It has people getting outdoors, walking around, meeting new friends and finding in new locations for Pokéstops.
It would be totally wack if your business didn’t take part in all the fun and gain some new, potentially regular customers.
